Tigers leaving because their habitat was destroyed.
Tigers are the largest of amongst other wild cats, they can weigh up to 200-680 pounds! Tigers like to hunt at night because they like to avoid human conflict during the day. Tiger cubs are born blind and only 1/2 of the cubs survive, because they are blind the baby cubs can only follow the secnt of their mother. Most of the baby cubs die from cold and hunger, some of them get eaten by other male tigers so the Tigress can be availabe for mating. That's crazy! Tigers love to swim and play! Female tigers encourge their cubs to spend time in the water and learn the art of hunting! As adult tigers, they can swim many kilometers, one has been reported to swim for 30 kilometers in just one day! Tigers are are carnivores, meaning they only eat meat, they mainly feed on deer, wild pigs, antelope and buffalo. Tigers have been walking on this earth for many years! Fossil remains of tigers found in parts of China are believed to be 2 million years old. Yikes! There are currently 5 different types of tigers, the Bengal tiger, South China tiger, Indochinese tiger, Sumatran tiger and Amur tiger (also known as Siberian tiger). Sadly, three subspecies of tiger have become extinct – the Caspian, Bali and Javan.
Tigers are endangered because their habitat has been destroyed and hurt by human activities. Forests are getting chopped away for agriculture and timber, and humans are building networks and other development activities, which pose serious threats to tiger habitats and their population. Tiger parts do also get traded and that is a major threat to the wild tiger population. There are many ways that we can protect tigers. One way that you can help, is by contributing to conservation of tigers and many other endangered animals. One of the best ways is to educate yourselves on tigers and other endangered animals, some conservations have turned poachers into protectors.
